In 2023, The Washington Post relaunched its iconic Style section, introducing readers to a new online destination for stylish news and trends with personality, perspective and deep reporting. To commemorate the relaunch, we commissioned two supersized murals in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We also produced a series of events branded Style Sessions at The Rubell Museum, featuring A-list guests, such as Christopher Nolan, Ella Emhoff and Ava DuVernay.

I led copy for all deliverables across both the mural and event executions. This included:

  • Mural "tagline"
  • Full-page print ad
  • Style Sessions zine ad
  • Style sessions postcard
  • Ghost-written emails sent to Style Sessions attendees

The placement of the murals in what is widely considered the nation's style capital, by a news organization headquartered in the nation's capital, exemplified The Post's unique approach to Style.

Impact:

  • Murals garnered ~700k+ impressions.
  • Style section experienced 26% bump in traffic from NYC metro area while murals were live.
  • "People. Power. Pop." campaign recognized as finalist in 2024 OBIE Awards in Film and Media category.
  • Style Sessions at The Rubell Museum attracted ~1k attendees across three events.
  • Style Sessions events successfully reached new audiences, with non-subscribers making up ~86% of registrants.
